Friday Favorite: T-ARA - Day By Day

Friday Favorite: T-ARA - Day By Day (part 1)

We are back with a review this week after last week's hiatus (yes, we partied well thanks). Our Friday Favorite this week is T-ARA's new song Day By Day which both impressed us and made us o.O at the screen. Without further ado let's begin the review. . .
T-ARA are back with an upgraded look, song and mv for their sixth mini-album. They have also used this opportunity to introduce their new members Dani and Ahreum. T-ARA never fail to bring fans long MV's with interesting storylines and this time around they won't disappoint your expectations either.

The MV is about 10 minutes long (excluding the extra bits) and is apparently only the first one of we-don't-know-how-many. Because the MV is long it contains two different songs 'Day By Day' and 'Don't Leave'. This MV is a mix of supernatural and futuristic genres which make the plot more of a sci-fi Hollywood blockbuster movie type compared to the usual MV's. To be honest, if you watch most of T-ARA's MV's you would think that you are watching a very short film rather than a very long music video. The MV director for this song did a great job with the camera plus the CG effects were done very well.

The storyline isn't complete yet in this MV but there is still a lot to talk about since it is very long. At the beginning of the MV, a piece on competitiveness amongst the human race that has led to blood shed is narrated (by the creepiest woman ever which makes very very epic!). This creates a dramatic atmosphere and will definitely make you curious of the storyline. The music also helps...making it sound more like the introduction of a game rather than a MV.

The plot revolves mainly around a blind girl (new member Dani) who seems to possess a special power  which we don't know what it is yet but it's probably to end war and destruction or something along those lines. She's protected by another girl (Hyomin) who by the way rides one of the most kick-ass bikes ever(!).
The evil bunny waits to make its move.
The bad guys work for a girl (Park Ji Yeon) who seems to be regarded as dangerous and a superior to everyone else in the city. Park Ji Yeon seems to be looking for Dani all the time for some reason (we're guessing.... for her power). What we like about this video is that it doesn't go overboard with the members makeup or costumes. Seeing that it is a little bit sci-fi, there usually can be coordinators that go all out in making the members look like outer space aliens. It's subtle which suits the character but at the same time make them look gorgeous which is what we think works the best.

Finally, she finds their hideout and rolls like a buffalo boss in her pink, rocker type......vehicle where the fight (the pivotal point) of this video happens. Now here, the music changes dramatically which we aren't fans of. It suits the fight scene however it doesn't suit their song but it's not much of a big deal.

Hyomin ends up nearly dying while defending herself and the blind girl from the bad guys (seriously, you'd think at these times some sort of supernatural power would be helpful...). It's a very unfair fight with one girl against nine men but she does kick their asses. If you look at this logically, this should only have lasted about ten seconds giving that she's a good fighter but this fight scene drags on. Even if she was a boy....this should not have been so long. Our conclusion is that either Ji Yeon paid for some crappy goons or that.....the goons were crappy. You decide~.
And here we have, the prince charming, saving Hyomin.....luckily he  just happened to be lurking around.
Hyomin does get injured and it takes her 6 years to recover...SIX YEARS! You'd think that she'd grow a beard or something at that time however no...no...she looks exactly the same (Darnhow does she do it!) She seems to have been in some sort of intensive care in a warehouse.....we're not even going to bother pointing out how many things there are wrong with that scene; here's a hint: there's a lot of it.

Of course, it had to end in a cliffhanger and we're anticipating the next part. There are previews of it at the end of the MV and it does looks much better; more action packed. This MV revolved around three members and we think that's a little unfair considering that there are eight of them. It should have been at least four members but we're not complaining.
Also the members did an amazing acting job! It looked real all the way through. The sets were amazing which was even better. Thank goodness they're not in just one room or one warehouse or one abandoned street. It varied throughout which helps to keep our attention.

One more thing we'd like to mention about this MV is that.....do they really not have any other weapons other than swords? Did the world run out of firepower? We're guessing that this is in the future and instead of technology improving, it seems we've gone back to swords. Let's face it, it would have been much cooler to have lasers but swords are classy and we're not too bothered about this tiny detail.
I shall defend myself with this sword that is wrapped in cloth with a flat end and is probably blunt.
The song has a very catchy beat and the flute (we're guessing) in the chorus just makes it even more better. It is probably one of our favorite songs from T-ARA because the song is very easy to listen to and is very different from what the other groups are coming out with which is mostly electronic. It's very soft and calming perfect for a reflective song like this *thumbs up*.

We can't really comment on their dance since the MV is just purely a story but we hope they come out with an impressive dance MV for this song. We've heard that Jonte Moaning (choreographer of Beyonce's "Single Ladies") choreographed the dance for 'Day By Day' so we are ready to see the master piece he has created for this song. No pressure dude. . . (note: when you are walking down the street alone you might feel a couple of rocks bouncing of your head depending on how well the choreography for this song is done).

Overall, we love this song and the story and the MV. We're waiting for the second part to be released where we get to see more of the members in actions and finish this interesting story. If you haven't watched part one of this fiction, here it is:
